Laws of Exponents
1. a n = a × a ×a ... (n indicates how many times will a be multiplied by itself) a n
2. a m × a n = a m + n
3. a m / a n = a m - n
4. ( a m ) n = a mn
5. ( abc ) n = a n b n c n
6. ( a / b ) n = a n / a n
8. a -m = 1 / a m or a m = 1 / a -m
9. a 0 = 1
10. If a m = a n , then m = n (a ≠ 0 because it contradict the properties in
algebra. Check important properties of
algebra here)
